Thanda Royal Zulu FC will host AmaZulu in the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) awareness charity match which is set for Richards Bay Stadium on Saturday 12 November. Kick off will be at 15:00.

TRZFC, who are KZN promotion hopefuls, sent skipper Asanda "Mhlekazi" Mvalo and Communications Manager Thabani Gumede to attend the press conference at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Wednesday morning.

AmaZulu brought along skipper, Zimbabwean goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini who, like Mvalo, publicly declared their support for the campaign.

The game this Saturday, which will be played under the ‘Football Fighting Cancer’ theme, will be preceded by an address conducted by both club’s players and management.

The game this Saturday, which will be played under the ‘Football Fighting Cancer’ theme, will be preceded by an address conducted by both club’s players and management.

The organisers said they are expecting a full crowd at the Boardwalk Mall in Richards Bay from 14:30 on Saturday. Maureen Dlamini, the CANSA Community Mobiliser said; "We are grateful to Thanda Royal Zulu and AmaZulu for committing to help us spread the awareness to the males in the community. It's a fact that to reach men you have to use sport, hence the CANSA Kick-Off Campaign. For years women have been encouraged to detect female cancers early, now we want to encourage men to be proactive and by administrating regular self-examinations and having blood tests done, can detect male cancers early".

TRZFC spokesperson Thabani Gumede said that the Saturday event forms part of the club's social community project that is aimed at bettering the lives of the needy and under privileged. Thanda also supports the HIV/Aids prevention campaign. This Saturday’s game could not have come at a more crucial time for both teams, as they seek to maintain impressive momentum. Thanda are three points behind NFD log leaders Blackburn Rovers.
